The Minerva Inspirational Student Society (M.I.S.S.) is a group of women who are nominated, recommended or chosen to represent California State University, Northridge at the National Women's Conference hosted by the first lady of California. These women carry out significant community service and share qualities in leadership under the spirit of the goddess Minerva-(wisdom, courage and strength). The mission of M.I.S.S. is to support young women to inspire and empower them to be the difference in their own lives and build a legacy of their own.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be considered for the Minerva Leadership Program, you must meet the following requirements:
Between the ages of 16-22
Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
Two Faculty/ Staff/ Community Member Nominations/Recommendations
Fully Completed and Signed Application
Short Answer Personal Statement
APPLICATION PERIOD
Applications will be available beginning Tuesday January 20, 2009 to Friday March 20, 2009.
DEADLINE TO APPLY
Applications must be received or postmarked by Friday March 20, 2009. Applications received after the March 20, 2009 deadline will not be considered.
NOTIFICATION
All M.I.S.S. finalists will be contacted by Friday May 8, 2009.
NUMBER OF AWARDEES
Up to 10 women will be accepted to the M.I.S.S. Organization.
